Myopic Macular Degeneration and Cataract

Hi,
I was diagnosed many years back with myopic macular degeneration which was worse in the right eye, leading to a macular hole there.
Since then the annual checks at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London show the retina fairly stable.
However, recently I was told I had developed cataract as well and at the last consultation cataract surgery was suggested.

1. I am unsure as to whether my myopic/macular conditions render me in any way to undue risks if I opt for a cataract operation
2. Is there any notion of cataract specialists for high myopes or would a good ordinary cataract surgeon suffice?
3. Is there anything I can do for my macular degeneration and hole?

Many thanks
