Nevus and LCH

Hello:  

My 14-year-old daughter was diagnosed today with a nevus that has invaded the cornea.  She has a history of having received radiation to the temporal skull on the same side for an illness called "Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis."  I am wondering if anyone has heard of a nevus like this in relation to either LCH or radiation.  I am also wondering if this could be dangerous, given that it appears to be spreading.

Given that there are several types of growths that might be described as a nevus of the cornea only the examining surgeon Eye MD could tell you. Get a second opinion from a cornea specialist Eye MD. As both the questions you posed here.

Thank you for your response.  We have an appointment in 3 weeks at Vanderbilt with a cornea specialist.   In researching a bit on the internet, I think she has what is called a conjunctival nevus, as this is what hers looks like.  I just don't know the implications....Waiting and not knowing anything is hard!

The great majority of conjunctival nevi are benign. Especially if you are black or darkly complected they tend to be common and benign.
