New RGP contact lenses are like looking through water

I just got my first pair of RGP lenses and I do understand that they take some time to get used to. What's happening, however, is that they are very sharp and clear for a second after I blink. Then they appear to slide into place over my cornea and everything gets blurry and ghosty. This is extremely distracting and causes me to want to blink constantly just to keep my vision sharp. Is this normal? Will it go away with time? Bad fitting? I'm a commercial photographer and sharp vision is very important to me. I can get used to the lenses but not the watery blur and I'm hoping I haven't made an expensive mistake by choosing RGPs.

Go back to your doctor.  This does not sound right.
