New Restor Lens Implant?

by sher137, Mar 05, 2009 09:50PM
I know the new ReStor plus 3 lens implant is Very New - but wonder about any users' experience with it?
I already have ReZoom in right eye, expecting it to provide good intermediate range vision (after a year just fair at 15-16 inches) and hoping for very good close up and reading vision with ReStor in left.  I've already been adapted for a year to reading with left eye (via contact lens) and distance with right.  I think the "older" plus 4 Restor may give me better close up for mending and close up cosmetic scrutiny.  WIth ReStor plus 4 and current ReZoom, do you think I'd be able to read at 15 - 17 inches?  Would my 2 eyes cooperate?  My brain has been adapting to this 'split' vision for several years previously with contact lenses too.  What would be any better with the newer plus 3?  What do you hear/think?  [I know nothing is certain!]  Thanks.

I implanted the latest Restor in my left eye 3 weeks ago.  I have a Crystalens HD in my right eye (7 weeks ago).

The new Restor extends the near vision a little further out (compared to the previous model), but it is still not as good as the CL HD from 2 ft to 6 ft.  My near vision with the Restor is good from 1 ft to 2 ft (whereas minimal near with the CL HD in this range).  In binocular vision, I read the computer screen without glasses, even small tyupe size.  In bright light (office), I can read 11 pt type WORD documents with no glasses.  A nurse at my Dr's practice has two older Restors and she loves them.  She can read the finest print with no glasses.

The new Restor is tinted slightly yellow.(UV protection) and the CL HD is clear.  This difference is noticeable in monocular but not in binocular.

I hope this helps.
