New Study on Central Serous Retinopathy

Benefit of half-dose verteporfin PDT for central serous chorioretinopathy shown on mfERG
This randomized, controlled trial evaluated changes in retinal function by multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) one year after half-dose verteporfin PDT for acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) and correlated mfERG changes with changes in visual acuity and OCT findings. Subjects were 34 SCS patients treated with verteporfin or placebo. The treated group had significantly better BCVA at one year, and significantly lower central foveal thickness compared to placebo. At 12 months, mfERG objectively demonstrated a higher level of improvement in central retinal function in the treated group. Retina, July/August 2011
