New floaters

Hi, I am 37/F, caucasian. I am clinically blind in my left eye due to a congenital cataract I was born with. My vision is 20/400 in that eye. I see 20/20 in my right eye (good eye) with glasses. I am nearsighted (-3.75). In 2007, I noticed some floaters starting to develop in my right eye (good eye). They were small black dots, but grew to a large cobweb floater. I saw my local opthalmologist after the floaters developed. He said it could be a PVD in my right eye, but wasn't sure, but I did have floaters. So I got a 2nd opinion by a retinal specialist at Cleveland clinic over them. The retinal specialist said my good eye was fine then, no PVD yet or retinal probelms, just mild vitreous degeneration. Since then I have seen my local opthamologist yearly for yearly exams. I saw my local opthamologist 8 months ago and he said my dilated exam was normal. But about 2 weeks ago, I did notice I seem to have a few new floaters starting in my good eye. A couple small little black dots, & bubble like string floaters have developed. I do not have showers of floaters in the eye at this time. I don't have a curtain sensation over my eye or loss of peripheral vision. I do not have constant flashing lights at this time. I do not see a ring in my eye either, which I've read some people get with PVDs.

Do the new floaters sound like an urgent matter or a PVD may be trying to develop? How long does it take for vitreous degeneration to progress to PVD? I plan to make an appointment with my local opthalmologist & retinal specialist as well soon for a checkup. Thank you...

your description does not match the "get in ASAP to ophthalmologist"  Lots of new floaters especially if like soot or hundred of tiny black dots, very bright flashes of light of short duration loss or peripheral vision. If any of these develop ask for an emergency exam.
