Now seeing showers of floaters following laser surgery for 2 retinal tears

I had two retinal tears identified a little over a week ago.  I was told they were in the peripheral part of my eye and that some fluid had entered one of the tears, causing a partial detachment of the retina, but no need for surgery to reattach the retinal given its location, and the laser would seal up the tear and not allow further fluid to enter.  At the time, I was only seeing 1-2 floaters.  Following the laser surgery to seal up the tears, I had the worst headache I had ever experienced in my life the first two days, and the floaters have subsequently increased in number.  From 1-2 initially to 3-4 within a couple of days, to now showers a couple of days later.  I've been re-examined twice this week, as the floaters have dramatically increased and am being told the tears look like they are healing (scaring) nicely and everything looks good.  Despite this, when I read off the eye chart, the letters are now appearing in double...a new development, so my eye is definitely going through changes.  So is this normal for the number of floaters to dramatically increase following laser surgery for retinal tears?  My headaches are daily, though dull (feels like a pressure headache around the top of the head and forehead).  I do NOT see flashes of light.  I'm really concerned my retinal doctor is missing something.  My doctor finished his fellowship in 2009 and I'm concerned with my symptoms and progression of eye problems he may not have enough hands on one on one experience and may be missing something, though he did attend all excellent schools and the doctor he practices with is well known and well regarded, though that doctor has never examined me.  (I had emergency laser surgery and the doctor I continue to see was the one in the office at the time I was sent over.).   If this is normal and to be expected, what might explain what I am experiencing?  This is super scary!

Dear Lilscoop,

I would recommend that you seek a second opinion as you are not confident. You should be examined for possible tear or detachment given the increased floaters.
