ONE EYE PROBLEM - DEPTH PERCEPTION

by SWIMAHOLIC, May 28, 2007 12:00AM
ok so in my left eye, i'm 20/20, but my right eye is 20/60 (really bad)

i don't know exactly why this happened, but one time i got bleach in my right eye and had to go to the emergency room, and they told me that my cornea was almost all the way burnt through.

this causes me not to be able to see well in my right eye, and have below average depth perception. now note that i have no problem what so ever during a normal day, but i'm sort of looking into being a jet pilot in the future and that requires the best of eye sights.

DO YOU THINK THAT THE BLEACH IS WHAT CAUSED MY PROBLEM?

so my question is : are there any ways to improve my eye sight?

Based on your description, I'd say cornea transplant is the only way to fully restore your vision. Again, this forum doesn't replace MDs. See an ophthalmologist (eye MD).

If your cornea was almost burned through you would have been referred to an ophthalmologist by the ER doctors and taken many weeks to heal.  There's a good chance your cornea is not your problem.
A corneal transplant is a big operation with a long recovery time. It's likely that 20/60 vision would not justify it.

You need a complete medical eye examination by an ophthalmologist. Additionally if your serious about a career as a military pilot talk to a recruiter about the visual standards that are required.

Hi,
My brother has lost his Right Eye in the age of 8Years(now he his 22 Years Old). He lost his eye while we were playing Bow & Arrow Game. The Arrow Stick hit on the Right eye & he pulled the stick but there was no bleading on that time. Later he rubbed his eye vigourously while taking bath on the same day. Then he informed our parents, but mistakenly we thought some foam or Shampoo might have fallen on his eye.On the same day we travelled in the night , once we reached the destination we found that the eye ball colour is completely changed to White Colour.
Can any Eye specialists Guide me how to get my Brothers Eye Visionable.

If you are talking about the eye that was "lost" (right eye) at age 8 most likely he can't be helped. If you are talking about the left eye it is an emergency to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist to try make sure it is not seriously injured.
