One eye red then yellow tint

Every couple of weeks, my left eye will show red patches. There is no pain, some very slight discomfort. It lasts a few days and then goes away.
I had a red patch again last night and when I woke up I notoced that it was gone, but that my eye had a very slight yellowish tint in the area I noticed the red patch last night.
I have seen an optometrist and, after several tests with some impressive contraptions:P she said that I was fine. Do I need to see an opthamologist?
Some details: I have never smoked, I do not drink alcohol, I eat relatively well, I exercise moderately...ok far too moderately;) I have asthma.
Self-diagnosis: lack of sleep: I have 2 young children OR a result of teeth-grinding.
I would appreciate a professional opinion.

Please see an ophthalmologist.  I do not know if you mean blood.  If so, you may need to be checked for a bleeding disorder since it recurs every couple of weeks.

It looks like broken blood vessels.
I will make an appointment with an opthamologist as soon as possible.
P.S.
My husband and I have family in Japan...we are both half-Japanese.I hope that if you still have family in Japan, they are safe. Our familes are in Tokyo and the southwest so they are safe, for now. We are praying that Japan overcomes this nuclear disaster.
