One eyelid opening more than the other

Hi,

About 2 months ago, I noticed that my right eyelid is opening more than the left eyelid. I checked old photographs and noticed that in photos older than 2 months the problem was not there. I am 41 years old (male) and typically have high IOP, have thick corneas.

Went to my ophthalmologist, he did a full exam, IOP, cornea thickness, optic nerve etc. etc. and said that everything seemed ok. The eyelid muscles seem to be working fine also, but the IOP was a bit high 25/26. He suggests that I get an MRI done to try and figure out why the eyelid is opening more, all of a sudden.

Any thoughts/ideas anyone? What am I looking at?

Thanks,

H

Thank you for your comments Dr. Ray. It turns out that I am suffering from hyperthyroidism. My doctor has put me on Neo-Mercazole. Is there something that can be done about the eyelid? Is this something that goes back to normal by itself? Any pointers on how long does it typically take if it ever goes back to normal?

Thanks again for your answer and insight.
