Opti Free Replenish - Skin Rash

Have anyone developed skin rash after using Opti Free Replenish? I did. The first time I tried contact lenses with this solution I got red eyes. I thought it was part of the process to get use to contact lenses (this is the first time I tried them). Then, after 2-4 days my skin was itchy, but no signs of rash; just itchy. My eyes got very tired so I decided not to use the contact lenses for a while. Then after 4 weeks I decided to give it a shot, put the contact lenses and I got very bad skin rash all over my belly, chest, arms and neck. After two days of developing the rash I decided not to continue using the contact lenses. Two weeks after I put the contacts and got a flare up of skin rash. My conclusion is that Opti Free Replenish caused the skin rash.

Hi,

I also developed a minor skin rash around my eyes.  I think it could be connected also to Opti-Free Replenish.  It's not over a lot of skin, but it has spread a little around my eyes, and it jumped from one eye to the other through me touching one and then the other.  I have been careful and have been moisturizing it, but I've had it for three weeks now.  It's slightly itchy unless I keep it really moisturized.

I don't know what to do.

1. Stop using the Opti-Free and ask your contact lens fitter what an acceptable alternative is.

If the problem contineus stop wearing the contacts and see a corneal surgeon Eye MD. Find one at www.aao.org

Opti Free Replenish - Skin Rash - Update

I visited a Dermatologist when I developed the rash and Dr prescribed Prednisone (steroid taken by mouth). Unfortunately, most of the time doctors in the US just to treat the symptoms instead of addressing the root cause. Dermatologist called me to follow up and see how I was doing. I explained Prednisone worked slightly but did not get rid of rash. He told me he may need to see me again and may be prescribe a higher steroid dose. I told him I was not up to take more steroids due to side effects and that I would go with a more 'natural-style' treatment. I got myself a homeopathic medicine (Allergy from Liddell Laboratories) and has worked great. Reduced itchy skin and since I suffer allergies (I live in north Texas) I haven't feel any allergy symptom (itchy eyes, sneezing) since I've been using homeopathy. Homeopathy addresses the root cause by training the body and immune system to do not react to harmless agents (allergens). In other words, works at a deeper level to help prevent further allergic responses –even to poison ivy-.
