Optic Disc Drusen

Optic Disc Drusen

18 months ago I started to get Migrane (migraine) Headaches, and could not see to drive at night. I have just recieved a dx of Optic Disc Drusen. They have sent me to a specialist that has agreed with my dx after a series of test. My eye pressure seemed fine at the time but because the migraines are getting worse they want me to have a spinal tap. I will now being seeing the eye specialist every two months. Everything I read, nothing shows migraines. I am scheduled to go to the University of Miami to grt the spinal tap. Is this normal or could they be looking for something else? If so any ideas? Thanks for your help

A spinal tap is not indicated for optic nerve drusen.  A spinal tap is usually done if they are worried about papilledema  or optic neuritis.Get at second opinion before the spinal tap at the Bascom Palmer Institute (part of University of Miami).

Thank you Dr O. I am actually seeing the Bascom Palmer Inst. They are the ones requesting the spinal tap.
