Optic Neuritis?

by Lulu54, Nov 01, 2009 03:54PM
Over on the MS forum we have been discussing the very common symptom of Optic Neuritis.

When the ON pain has resolved are there still physical symptoms visible on examination that the ON has occured?

If there is residual evidence/scarring, would it be visible in a regular opthomalogical exam or would it only be visible through an MRI ?

Thanks so much for any insight you can share.

MS caused ON can affect the optic nerve head (papillitis) and it is then visible or it can affect the optic nerve behind the eye and be invisible (retrobulbar neuritis).  Scars behind the eye are not visible.
