Optic nerve

I am a 24 year old female who went to the eye doctor for ulcers which have formed and while being examined the dr told me that i had a swollen optic nerve. From this visit i immediately went to a neurologist and he sent me to get a MRI the MRI came back normal and came to the conclusion that for the time being i would take the topamax in hopes that the swelling would go down, since that i have gone to see the dr twice and really no change has occured. Is topamax ( a seizure medication) a proper medication to treat a swollen optic nerve? Is there anything else i can do? Any insight would be appreciated, thank you in advance Jessica

Thank you. I have been hesitant about the continuing the Topomax. I have been looking in to a second opinion. I don't want to be on a medication that I don't need and is a swollen optic nerve really my problem. Also the right treatment is what I'm looking for.

See a neuro-ophthalmologist to make sure you have swollen optic nerves.   I am not aware of the use of Topomax for optic nerve swelling.
