PHPV and Having Children

Hi,

I was diagnosed with PHPV (Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous) as a baby.  I underwent several surgeries (cataract, detached retina, corneal transplant).  I am and have been stable for several years now.  I am turning 30 this year and am thinking about starting a family.  I am scared that this could be genetic or hereditary.  Does anyone know the stats on people who have PHPV having normal babies?

Thanks so much!

Dear tess_008,

There are different types of inheritance reported, including autosomal recessive and sometimes, dominant. I would recommend that you speak with your eyeMD about this further.
