Any time you have corticosteroids placed in the body by injection, oral pills, patches, inhalers or other route, there can be an increased risk of developing cataracts (PSC type in particular) and glaucoma.  With long term, high doses of oral corticosteroids in particular there is a very high chance of developing cataracts.  So these type of drugs are used only when absolutely necessary - which is often the case since the problems with not taking the steroids can be greater than the side effects.  Have a review with your doctors to make sure you really need to be on them.  Look into alternatives.  Make sure you have an excellent Eye MD ophthalmologist since catraracts can be corrected with surgery with an extremely high succes rate.
