PTERYGIUM GRAFT

PTERYGIUM GRAFT

I am a 26 year old healthy female who had a pterygium in my right eye.  I did not like the look of it, because it would always become red and inflamed so I opted for conjuctival graft with glue for my pterygium surgery at Harvard Eye.  I had the surgery 3.5 weeks ago and is due for another follow up in a few days. The first follow up after 1 week from my surgery the doctor said I was fine and it was healing perfectly.  So I decided to give it a few more weeks before I look normal.  However, after 3.5 weeks of healing, the graft actually... healed ONTO my cornea.. so it looks like the pterygium is still there?  There is still a wing shaped piece of tissue/graft on my cornea touching the iris colored part of my eye making the iris not look like a normal circular shape, and I dont know if that will disappear.  Does the graft get smaller and smaller eventually as time goes by and will that wing heal outside of the Iris?  Or is this another pterygium that grew back already?  I wanted the pterygium GONE, but it still looks the same.

It doe take time (months) for the graft to thin and flatten. It likely will be 4-6 months for you to tell the effect of this surgery.
