PVD/Flashes Question

44yo male, healthy, non-smoker, non-drinker and taking no meds. I started having peripheral light flashes on 5/9/08 in my right eye only.  These would be like a strobe light or camera flash - but not very intense.  They usually come 1, 2 or sometimes 3 at a time, and are sometimes associated with a "tic" of the lower lid, but not always.   They occur every 2 or 3 minutes, and have been continuous since inception.  They are visible in all types of light conditions.

Saw my eye MD on 5/12, and after exam, he said there was no retinal damage or indication of RD.  He said I "probably" have PVD, but the exam was inconclusive.  I have a follow-up appointment in 4 weeks.  I forgot to ask one important question:

My question is: will the flashes continue forever, or will it setlle down at some point?  Do people eventually get to the point where they no longer notice them?

You should ask your doctor. Do you have severe myopia, or anything that would signal retina Problems?

If you are still flashing one week after the exam, I would go back to the doc. Are you sure he is an MD?

If you have increased floaters, especially many black dots that are racing, go back immediately.

PVD caused my detachmane and vision loss. You may have simple PVD. Just watch you eyes, to be careful.
