PVD after trauma/Residual redness in eye

PVD after trauma/Residual redness in eye

I had a PVD after a trauma from being struck by a football about 6 mos. ago.  The impacted eye still is red, not everywhere but (it is the right eye) in the lower right hand corner, ie toward the edge of the face.  My opthamologist said he cannot think of any connection between the trauma and PVD and the redness of the eye in this one location.  He suggested generic drops for dry eyes.  I tried theratears but it only seemed to irritate the eye more.

The lower lid of the right eye occasionally twitches and the eye sweats more than normal at night, leaving "sleep" in the morning.  During the day, the redness goes away somewhat but still is noticeable.  I feel what he said is a "foreign body in eye" sensation, more sometimes than others.

Before the trauma, the eye was normal and I never had redness.

Can you suggest any reason for this to be happening?  I asked the Dr. if there could be some residual trauma or the trauma could have injured something like a tear duct but he could not think of anything that would cause this.

Thanks for any suggestions!
