Pain behind eye

My right eye has been blind since birth (light, very large objects are the only things I can see), and have had pain in/around the eye off and on.  In the last month, the pain has been daily.  I just went for an eye exam, and the ophthalmologist told me that the myelin was missing from the nerve behind the right eye.  She did not seem concerned and indicated that there wasn't anything to be done.  However, I want to know if I have any options regarding the constant pain - other than painkillers.  Thank you.

A cousin had the nerve block procedure done to a blind eye that was giving him great pain. The block worked great and he has no pain, but after using drops prescribed for the eye, the eye ball is blood red. Is this common or does he need to see the doctor.

If you eye is totally blind I suggest you see a oculoplastic surgeon. Find one at www.aao.org. You may need special tests to determine why the eye is painful (example b scan) and you may need to talk about nerve block or in the worst instance removal of the painful eye.
