Pain

Hello,
My left eye has had 2 retinal detachements. The macula partially detached so vision is poor. A cataract was removed and an exterior lens inserted. This lens was painful and an interior lens was inserted. A plug was inserted in the tear duct to help with the constant discomfort.

There is swelling around the scar tissue on the retina which has not been reduced by shots of Avastin and steroids. Another Vitrectomy has been suggested to remove the scar tissue. As the eye has been through so much I am reluctant to have this done. My question is: Can Iive with the swelling or is there a possibility it will cause further problems down the line.

Thank you so much. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. Are there ANY other options in terms of reducing the swelling and pain? Is the swelling dangerous?

You need a frank discussion with your retina doctor about your potential vision if everything goes well. Removing the scar tissue (epiretinal membrane?) may not stop the swelling in the retina.
