Pars Planitis

Pars Planitis

I was diagnosed with Pars Planitis about 30 years ago.  Lost vision in right eye and had a buckle put on about 28 years ago.  I am now having problems with my back and spine, what are the odds that this is related.  All of the info on the web just scares me, and they are having a difficult time with a diagnoses of my pain.

PP is related to multiple sclerosis. I do not know if its related to inflammatory arthritis. I would suggest seeing a rheumatologist or orthopedist that does backs. Be sure you're tested for the HLA-B27 antigen. That can relate back pain to inflammation in the eye as can Rheumatoid factor, sedimentation rate.

Thanks.  I see the orthopedic spine surgeon Friday and will ask about a test for HLA-B27.  Because I have not had a flare up in years, I tend to forget about the PP, so this just came up at an awkward time. I did nothing to injure my back so I was bamboozled as to why it was hurting so much.  My mother brought up the PP and I looked online.  I got nervous over the sites that I was reading.  Unfortunately when nothing is going on with my eyes I tend to forget that I have a serious disease, that is linked to other things.
