Pediatric Glaucoma

My 10 month old daughter was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma today.  Her doctor told us that it was caught in time and there is not any damage to her nerve.  We are going to try some eye drops to see if the cornea clears up.  If not he recommends surgery.
My baby also has a large head and a high palette.  She had a CT scan in October which indicated that everything is normal.
Each of the doctor we have seen mentioned the possibility of a "syndrome" because of the combination of the large head, high pallette and know her eyes.  Do you know what they might be referring to?  They have recommened we see a geneticist to explore this possibility.
  Thank you.

That is encouraging that they found the glaucoma soon.  Fortunately, there are many more options today than we had in the past.  The primary treatment of this disease is surgical.  Unfortunately, I am not aware of the syndrome that you are describing, however, it is not uncommon for children with congenital glaucoma to have a syndrome.  The one syndrome that comes to mind that is assoc with congenital glaucoma is Pierre Robin Syndrome.  These children typically have a pointy chin.  Many syndromes are no more than a name.  It is important that you see a geneticist. There are literally hundreds of syndromes and they are experts in this area.
