Phthisis Bulbi (eye loss)

I posted this last night, but it's gone. I have been through a scare over my eyes, Four retinologists say I will keep my eye. One doctor says it might be in danger. This is allin the last 6 weeks.

If my eye were in danger, what symptoms would I probably experience, as warning signs?

Due to a road traffic accident i had got my corneosclarel tear with globe collapse. Now my eye has shrunk to 1/3rd. PB is what was written on my report when I was dischared from the Hospital 3years back. Last week when i went to hospital in addition to Organised Hyphaeme AC Flatand ciliary congestion++, PB, ciliary tenderness+++ was also written and i was asked to take 4 hourly basis ATROCHLOR and PREDNISOLONE ACETATE eye drops on 2 hrly basis.

What is the fate of my eye? Will it remain or I will suffer for the rest of my life with pain and redness and more shrinking trouble? Hope to get some guidance from any/some of u!!!Kind regards

They are not the same. For example an eye that has a glaucoma filtration operation for uncontrolled glaucoma may have an IOP of 2 and that is exactly what the Eye wants to keep the glaucoma from getting worse.

On the other hand an eye with severe internal scarring that has IOP of 2 due to aqueious shutdown is often headed for trouble.

Do you mean that low eye pressure and eye loss are not the same? In other words, are there other factors that cause low pressure, besides low fluid?

When I mentioned my worries about eye loss to my newest retinologist, he said that the "silicone oil generally holds things together." I don't think he meant that silicone oil can keep the eye together without fluid production. But he did say that with a pressure of 0-2, my eye should still survive.  However, my ciliary body is greatly atrophied,

I sometimes wonder if some of the doctors are trying to keep me calm and sane, and they figure that I don't need to know about anything that is not happening now.e But I do need to know so that I can plan. I am going to stress that in my next appointment.
Taking care of oneslf with no help is a big job, and I must continue to do it well, and that takes planning.

I really respect the opinion of my ophthalmologist. because she is also an eye plastic surgeon. It is hard to tell what she really thinks about the overall prognosis, but she thinks my eye looks good, considering what it has endured,

Thanks

ocular hypotension is not the same as PB.  Once the eye stops producing aqueous its generally straight down hill.

Thank you.

I had been told that pain was a main symptom. A lot of us learned something. So I guess low pressure and a shrinking eye are the main symptoms?

Do eyes generally go on a straight decline?

I feellike this issueis rarely addressed. I think it rarely happens, but a lot of patients wonder about it, I am sure.

Thank you again.

As I said, I have consulted with 5 doctors, and received differing opinions.

I am asking what symptoms that the general population experiences. You might have seen a symptom that another doctor has not. I want to know as much as I can. This questionhas to do with pthisis in general.

Thank you

Anna E your case is so complex that I cannot even generalize. You will need to get your specific information from your treating MDs.

Good luck to you and all your travails.
