Pink Eye

Hello. I am a concerned high school student with a troublesome situation. Last week, I woke up on a fresh crisp wednesday with a strong migraine and bloodshot eyes. As the day passed and my eyes had gotten increasingly itchy and watery, I realized it was more than just sore eyes from lack of sleep. The next day, my eyes were almost the same except with added infections of drainage and unbelievable swelling to the extent of almost unbearablly blurry eyesight. I went to a physician and was given a prescription of eye drops for pink eye. It has already been about four and a half days that I have been taking them and I don't see or feel any improvement. I have also avoided any places with bright lights and haven't touched my TV, computer, or any electronics untill now. With my finals this week, I am worried that I may be kicked out of school because of my eyes and I may miss my finals. If anyone has any suggestions or quick remedies, please help me.

Sounds like you went to your family physician but you really need to see an ophthalmologist right away.  Even if you did see an ophthalmologist call and get back and get seen again, right away since the current treatment is not helping and in some cases, certain drops can make you a little worse, if for example you were allergic to it.

Sounds like you may have viral pinkeye it is more common than bacerial pinkeye and medications do not clear it up.  If it doesn't get better by tommorrow I would recommend you go back to your opthomolgist.  If it is viral it may take several weeks to get better.  Hang in there!
