Possibility of Retina detachment

For the past month I have 2 dark spots (floaters) on my left eye. Recently  my left eye feels heavy. However, I did not experience any flashes yet.My mum has retina detachment 10 years ago and knew that it can be hereditary. I'm currently trying to get a check up in a hospital but it can be quite a long queue. I would like to seek opinion whether what I am experiencing could be due to retina detachment. TQ.

Retina flahses are short duration, intense intensity like flash of lightening or flashbulb going off.

Thank you for your info. Would like to know how are the flashes like. For example vision suddenly turns all white for a moment before it returns to normal? Does it happens to both of the eyes or only the problematic one?

I forgot to say that my daughter's retinas detached before mine, and that my nephew has another retina problem.

Best.

Yes, with a family History of RD it is quite urgent to have a dilated retinal exam.

Don't wait. I am not a doctor but I have had three detachments in the same eye,and 5 surgeries. My eye also felt odd. like there was something in it.

It could be PVD, but it also could be more serious. PVD can cause a detachment, also.. so you should be watched.

I hope all is ok, but caution is called for here.

I did not see floaters until it detached. But I had flashes for a long time, but my doctor put me off and never even told me about PVD.

Best,

Anna
