Post-Op Buckle

Post-Op Buckle

My boyfriend had surgery a few days ago for a retinal detachment. He had a scleral buckle and a gas bubble put in. The follow up appt to the surgery went well, the doctor did not seem concerned at all and said that the retina had been reattached. His only instructions other than the various kinds of eye drops (atropine, suspension, and vigamox) was to sit up and when sleeping to keep his head to at least a 45 degree angle. Slowly his eye has been opening more and looks better to me every day but yesterday and today he has been complaining that he is seeing the same curtain over the bottom portion of his eye that he had before the surgery. Is this just the bubble that he is seeing or is it possible that the retina has detached again?

Either of those could be the case. Check with your retina surgeon tomorrow morning to see if he needs to come in for an exam.
