Post Op Cataract Surgery - Complications or Normal?

I just had cataract surgery on Monday. Today on Wednesday, the whites of my surgery eye are blood red and filled with goo (the best scientific term I could find to describe this).  The surgery side of my face is swollen and the eye hurts. Vision vascillates between weak and blurry. Is this normal? I am VERY concerned...........

Dear Rapunzelweezil,

I would definitely recommend that you see kteh care of your eyeMD immediately if you have had a change in the vision, discharge and pain. This may indicate a severe infection known as endophthalmitis inside the eye.  It is common to have some redness and possibly bleeding in the white part of the eye.
