Post cataract surgery pain

Hi!

My mother as recently had her cataract in her left eye removed about one month ago. For the last three days
she has been experiencing an extreme stabbing like pain in the top of her eye ball to the extreme that the pain has been waking her at night. Looking for possibilities on what this may be. She has been to the hospital and sent home with eye drops but the pain remains. Bright light also hurt.

Thanks.

She needs to be examined by an ophthalmologist right away to make sure there is not an infection or broken stitch in the eye.  Inflammation is also a possibility.
