Posterior Vitreous Detachment and head trauma

I was hit, while at a stop light, by an out of control driver.  I was the passenger, and we were hit in the side of the vehicle, causeing me to hit the side window with force.  It is now a little over a month later, and with flashes and floaters, I have been diagnosed witb posterior vitreous detachment.  It is tne right eye, where the blow occured.  I had an MRI due to headaches after, which was negative.  Can this accident have contributed to the developement of this condition?  I am 67, but have incredible health with normal blood pressure, no meds,  and a rigorous work out schedule with an hour of cardio  six days per week.  I find this a bit too coincidental.  Thak you for your response in advance..

PVDs are a natural part of aging and happen at some point in most people.  You could argue that maybe the accident sped up the process in your right eye but can't be sure it is from the accident.  Key is for you to get routine dilated exams by a retina specialist to make sure there are no retinal tears which could lead to retinal detachment (this should be done periodically as long as you are still having flashes).
