Power of the implant lens

I had cataract surgery one week ago. I was -11 in my left eye.

I just noticed they included the Implant information in my surgical bag.

They implanted a:

HOYA PC-60AD.
Power: +15.50 D

My question is, right now, a week after surgery, I'm +3 farsighted. So I went from -11 to +3. I was +4 the day after surgery. I was told as the eye heals and implant settles in I should approach 0.

I know the calculations are not always 100% accurate, but just from simple math, -11 + 15.5 = +4.5.

Is the implant typically overcorrected like this to account for how the eye/lens heals after surgery?

Thanks, and sorry for all the questions lately.

You will not know your post operative refractive error for 4-6 weels.  At that time if you are hyperopic that is generally not a hoped for post operative final refractive error.  We like to leave people somewhere between 0.00 and -2.75

As an engineer I totally appreciate the math.

In your opinion, is it normal for someone to be hyperopic post-op, and then heal into plano? Or can I expect to just be farsighted from now on?

This is not simple math. Formula for IOL powers have numerous variables including length of eye, depth of anterior chamber, radius of curviture of the cornea, position of the IOL, a "K" constant for a given type of IOL. Even then the forumula have an error range of plus/minus 0.5 diopter.
