Prescription for astigmatism

Hi

I am concerned and confused by the differences in two recent eye tests done by different optometrists.

In the first test, the optometrist used the plus-cylinder form and diagnosed the Axis for my right eye as 65, and the Axis for my left eye as 70.

A few weeks later, an optometrist using the minus-cylinder method diagnosed the Axis for my right eye as 25, and the Axis for my left eye as 175.

I understand there is a 90 degree difference between writing the axis in the plus-cylinder form from the minus-cylinder form, so the different prescriptions do ot appear to make sense.

As the second optometrist agreed fully with the prescription of the first optometrist, I am somewhat confused about the differences in the axis.

Yes you are absolutely right.  If the prescriptions were the same the axis would be 90 degrees more than the first rx.  They are not equivalent so I'm not sure the second doctor absolutely "agreed" with the first one.  Maybe they were just in the same ballpark?  Call him to clarify.
