Problem after a Vitrectomy - Gray patches in vision

I had a vitrectomy with gas bubble about 6 weeks ago for a partial thickness macular hole.   My surgeon advised operating to repair it as I was having trouble reading, lines were distorted, and I was getting bad headaches. Fluid was also collecting beneath, and I have had a previous detachment (repaired some years ago with scleral buckle).

The gas bubble has now gone, and my vision is very slowly improving, but I am concerned that there are several gray patches that were not there before the surgery. One large one borders  around about half of the periphery of my vision, and another smaller one  is across most of my central vision.  The effect is that my vision is worse than it was before the surgery.  My surgeon does not seem concerned, and says they may require laser treatement. He has not said what they are.

Has anyone else experienced these gray patches - or have any idea what they are?  I would be grateful for any comments, including the success of any treatment, or if they will just go?

These grey patches near center is probably due to damage of the retina during the ILM peel for the macular hole. It may not get better.
