Problem with new eyeglasses

Problem with new eyeglasses

I recently got new glasses, with the opticial told were a little stronger.  I have been wearing them for 2 weeks and I have not been able to adjust to them.  I consider myself to be short sighted, but I understand I have an astigmatism, however with my new glasses I feel like I am wearing binoculars, but when I look at things close by my eyes really strain and I have been getting headaches.

My prescription has changed from -2.00 -0.75 5 in 2006 to -2.50 -1.00 19 in 2008 right eye (if that means anything).

I dont necesarily feel my prescription is too strong, just that it is out of balance.  I dont need to see so far away especially as it is now causing a strain to see nearby.  I feel like I am being fobbed off by the optician when I went back to see them.  I have been wearing glasses for years and have never exerienced this with new glasses.  Does this sound normal?

There are many reasons for trouble adjust ing to new glasses. You need to tend to them now lest you lose the money you've invested in them.

This is how we handle the problem in our offices. We schedule the patient for a "glasses recheck" there is no charge for this exam. We ask the person to bring both the  new and the old glasses. The technicians check both the glasses and repeat the glasses test. The Eye MD then decides what the problem might be and writes the directions to the optician (glasses maker) to redo the lens.

As I said we do not charge for this. Most opticians will also change the glasses at least once in the first 30 days without charge.

Don't wait much longer before you bring the problem to the attention of the doctor that wrote the RX and the optician that made them. Longer than 3-4 weeks you may be stuck with them.;
