Problems after dilation

I had a full eye exam November 2006 and had my eyes dilated. i have had major problems with my eyes since. My eyes were dilated for over two weeks, they are dry all the time, I have headaches, my vision is blurred and worsened, I am now near-sighted as well as far-sighted. I am scared that the dye ruined my vision. Have you ever heard of this?

Thank-you so much. I thought I was the only person this has happened to. My regular Doctor thinks that the dye IS the cause of my problem. I am also seeing the other attending eye doctor at my eye clinic. The first one said it was my age. I had this problem right after dilation. It is not better. I will try those drops for my dry eyes. My doctor says it is from straining my eyes. This really sucks. Please keep me posted on your condition, I am very interested to see if yours lasts as long as mine. Its been 1 year now.

Thanks again

oh, and by the way, i dont know about your dry eye and headache things...i can tell you one thing from experience though.  i get headaches when i upgrade eye glasses.  new eye glasses tend to take time to get used to so when they get stronger u get more headaches.  and i also have dry eye cause when i used to wear my contacts all the time.  i was using acuvue advance (which is suppposed to be really good) but my eyes were dry after a few hours of use.  and when i take it off i still have dryer reddish eyes...but try this brand it literally just came out 2 weeks/3 weeks ago they are REALLY good for dry eye and mine were really dry..I have been wearing these new contact lenses non stop 12 hrs or more day for a week...try "Biofinity" by cooper vision (and no i dont work for the company).  Biofinity supposedly allows more air into your eyes, and it is different material, soft, and throw away 2-4 weeks, and more moisture content (but then again, remember you might have eyes that dont work well with high moisture content. it depends on your eye type...some peoples eyes work better with high moisture contact lenses, and then for some other people, high moisture contact lenses suck outthe moisture in there eyes thus leaving them dryer)

i have been wearing them for a week, and I have been able to watchmovies and stuff too.  its really shocking to be able to wear it for so long.  sure, sometimes they get somewhat dry (but hardly a problem compared with the others) but they are still really really good. sometimes even after a 15 hr day of wearing them i dont feel them even at the end of the day, after i have watched the TV screen or computer screen (even when doing those 2 activities make ur eyes dryer)
hopethis helps

went to eye doctor yesterday, she said my eyes are fine and that its all in my mind.  she did a test and i checked out ok.  the dye shouldnt mess up your eyes neither should the light they use to test your eyes with.  the whole process is completely safe she says.  she said maybe its because since my contacts wnet up from 5.0 to 5.25 in both eyes, then my vision close up will be a little bit effected since it is stronger (i am near sighted).  or maybe you might have the wrong prescription.  right now im wearing my old glasses and i think i can read the screen fine.  hope this helps

These problems occurred right after the dilation. But, they are worsening as time goes on. Hasn't there been anyone that has had side effects or a bad reaction from the dyes?

It's very unlikely.  THe only instance where I could imagine the dilating drops hurting you would be if you developed an attack of narrow angle glaucoma.  You definitely need a recheck right away with your ophthalmologist, regardless, because you're having new problems.
