Pseudotumor cerebri in 66yr male

HI, i am writing you from bangkok Samitiveg hospital. My father in law who is 66 years old is diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri and this is affecting is optic nerve. we have been here for more than a month now. we have come from Nepal for his treatment. After the diagose the doctor tried giving him medications, but after a week lumbar tapping was done and his pressure was 33, so the doctor decided to place a shunt in his back and drain the fluid, but it was working too much, and his brain gradually shrunk, he started vomitting and complained of sever headache. So again afther the doctor did lumbar tapping and his pressure came down to 6mm. So the doctor decided to  close the shunt completely After 10 days, again he did lumber tapping and this time his pressure build to 37. we decided to open the shunt 50% and see how it reachs, but due to technical error, the doctor made a cut in the tube and thus he had to reopen the shunt completely. Next day our neurologist came and said that the leakage is not good and so it is better we do the brain surgery.that same night   VP shunt was inserted. next day we came to know that does to the shrinkage of the brain due to the leakage and the doctor had to do multiple insertion. The patient left hand and leg was not moving as the doctor said his brian swollen. and it has already been 10 days now and all this time we have been working on his legs and hands to work properly. today our eye doctor came and said that the optic nerve is not getting any better. She beleives that the pressure is still building. Our team of doctors here and not giving any proper conclusion. They have been telling us to be patient which i believe we have been so far. Does it take a week for the machine to work? i am really worry. The patient is too tired and is in dillusion. HELP!!

Pseudotumor cerebri can be a terribly difficult thing to treat. Like any and all disease some people do not respond to treatment. It can cause blindness anywhere in the world.

That's about all I can tell you. Paste the below link in your internet browser and read more.
