Ptosis & Corneal Errosions

Ptosis & Corneal Errosions

two years ago i went by the ophthalmologist to get a new Rx for my glasses/contacts. I noticed that when on my laptop at night my vision in my left eye was blurred even with my contacts/glasses.also wanted to investigate the slight drooping of my left eye-lid He told me my blurry vision was due to corneal errosions, though he never used the word RECURRENT. So he gave me a Rx for eye drops as well as an eye vitamin (iCaps). I wasnt satisfied that he ignored my complaint about my eye-lid, and eventually went to get a second opinion, the other doctor told me i have Ptosis, but said he doesnt see any evidence of any errosions, after much investigation including what he called a 'ptosis evaluation' as well as an MRI, no cause could be found for the ptosis. He also attributed my blurry vision in my left eye to ptosis. I had a feeling this was not the case.

A year and a half ago i noticed that when i was tired the ptosis got worse, which after what i've read makes sense. Now my vision has gotten blurry once again in the same left eye. Im in the middle of exams and hardly get any rest, so the ptosis is always evident. I researched Corneal errosions and found all the symptoms, and have realized that even last time i had corneal errosions i had all these symptoms; sensation of foreign body, photophobia, excessive pain and tearing etc. and i had all these symptoms in the morning. I currently have all these symptoms and its really bad, i often find it hard to open either eye, even though only one  hurts. I am also a likely candidate for corneal errosions with respect to my contacts. But no where online does it mention a symptom as blurry vision.

What i want to know, can my ptosis be the cause for my corneal errosions?
Is my blurry vision being caused by edema of the eye? and if so...how long will it last?
Will my corneal erosion be ok in a few days? should i seek a Rx or treatment?
how long should i not wear my contacts? I am in exams and need my vision!

Dear user217,

Ptosis is a drooping eyelid and is the not usually a cause of corneal erosions.  Ptosis might be the result of an irritated eye from corneal erosions.  IF this was the case, we would expect the ptosis to improve during periods of quiescence.

Blurry vision with recurrent corneal erosions may result from an uneven or irregular surface.  I would recommend that you seek the care of a corneal specialist to determine the best treatment for you.  They will be able to recommend the  next step if it has not improved.
