Question

Hello
Does lattice degeneration have anything to do with myopia?  If you are more highly myopic, do you have a more risk to develop lattice or is it all the same for any myopics (high or low)?

Thank You

There is a higher incidence of lattice in myopes.

I do not know of a study linking higher levels of lattice in higher levels of myopia but there
may be one out there somewhere. My feeling is that there is probably a correlation.

However, on a practical basis, it makes no difference because the examination for a retinal break is done when indicated no matter whether a patient is myopic or not.

Lattice is more common in myopes but is found in a relatively large proportion of "healthy" subjects too. Studies go back to 1965 and beyond on this so I wont bore you with the details.
