RETHINOSCHISIS AND CATARACT SURGERY

I am having cataract surgery at Bascom Palmer in Miami. I also have a condition on the eye that would be operated called foveaschisis. My question is? Will the cataract surgery  will make this condition worse?? Thanks

You should address this question to your retina specialist.  Theoretically, if there are complications or lots of inflammation after the cataract surgery, you could develop macular edema on top of the foveoaschisis which would be worse.  This is unlikely and your surgeon could take certain precautions to decrease the chance of this.  Discuss it with both the cataract surgeon and the retina specialist you see.
