ROP and posteria subcapsular cataract

I am a 53 year old woman. I have been told that I have ROP, although I was not born prematurely.  I also have PVD. I now have posterior Subcapsular cataracts. My specialist has said that my retina is very thin and if I have surgery I have a higher than average chance of losing my sight. Obviously I will eventually need surgery, I just wonder how long I have until I have no choice but to take the chance. My vision is still ok for driving with glasses.

Rule of thumb is to wait till your vision is worse than 20/40 even with glasses when it is no longer safe to drive and then it would be worth the risk of the surgery.  Of course, this needs to be discussed with your surgeons who are able to evaluate your individual risk based on a careful exam of your eyes.
