I am a 65 yr old female, in good gen. health. Normal BP, lipids,
ESR and CRP with a dx of AION/Partial BVO OD.  Dr. reports
few scatlera hemes, trace disc edema, CWS inferior to fovea,
venous(looks like??) stasis/ischemic CVO.  My question is: does
the CWS indicate some other disease or is it all part of the AION
BVO and what is your interpretation of the report.  My doc says
there is no treatment for this condition. Presc. an asirin a day
for circulation.  |Thank you for you response.

Very good question!  First, your doc is correct in saying that there is no Tx that can manage the visual loss associated with AION (which is the most common acute optic neuropathy in patients over 50), but 325+ mg aspirin a day is wise. Cotton wool spots are rarely associated with AION but are associated with a variety of other diseases (too many for me to list, but ask your doc).  However, it is not that rare to see AION and CWS in Takayasu's arteritis.
Hope this helps!
