A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Episcleritis.  I also have Raynaud's Phenomenon. Should I look into asking the doctor to test for an underlying disease such as RA or Lupus?
One other question. Is laser eye surgery not recommended for people who have the beginning stages of Fuch's Dystrophy?  I am only 40 so it looks like I'll have a while before needing a cornea transplant (if it happens that I'll need one).  Can you tell me a little about Fuch's?  Can I delay the progress of it at all or do you have any suggestions?
Thanks so much.
Renee

#1- episcleritis is typically NOT associated with underlying systemic inflammatory disorders, though it is possible. Scleritis ( very painful, typically, unlike episcleritis ) often is associated.  So if it is just episcleritis I would personally not be looking for a cause- that is of course not commenting on the raynauds.
#2- if you have fuch's u should not have a refractive procedure period.  fuch's is an inherited dystrophy of the back of the cornea ( endothelium ) that can lead to the cornea being fileed with water ( corneal edema ) and thus vision becoming poor-  it sometimes requires a corneal transplantation-  it can take years to develop if it ever does-  but if u have it u r not a candidate for refractive surgery.
i hope this helps.

Can Episcleritis also be caused by a large amount of stress?
