Could you please clarify the treatment options and associated risks, for floaters, in otherwise healthy individuals? IE Laser, Vitrectomy and drugs (Vitrase?)
Many in the medical profession advocate doing nothing as they are harmless however there does not seem to be an understanding of the psycological impact and reduced quality of life that they can have.

The problem is that there are risks associated with a vitrectomy which is the removal of the vitreous and floaters.  These include infection, bleeding, retinal detachment and scar tissue formation - all of which can permanently affect your vision.  I would recommend you see a retina specialist because if the floaters are that devastating, you may decide that this is worth the risk.  Inflammation in the vitreous can also cause floaters and you should see your ophthalmologist to make sure there is nothing treatable causing the floaters.
