My question concerns the type of drop I was using after having had PRK in both eyes for the third time due to haze. The drop I was on for six weeks, in conjunction with Flour-Op, was a compound similar to Mytomycin - C ( I think the compound is Thyotepa). After developing a severe  reaction to the compound ( redness and irritation) my doctor told me to stop
the compound and only continue with the Flour-Op 2 times per day in each eye. Do you know of any other treatments for corneal haze? Also, how long can one use Flour-op steroid drops?

I am not aware of any other types of drops to use for the haze following PRK.  The steroid drop that you are on can be used for many months as long as you are under the care of an ophthalmologist to monitor the pressure in the eye.  There is not much penetration of the drop in the eye so the risk of cataract long term is low.  I will ask my collegues to see if they are using any other drops for this problem.  You can always seek a second opinion with another refractive surgeon if you are concerned.
Good luck.  This information was provided for medical educational purposes only.
