Here are my details:
before surgery:
  1. -5.5 diopters
surgery number 1:
Vision was corrected to about 20/70.  It was also noted that I
had "Central Islands".  The doctor recommended a "touch-up".
surgery number 2:
Vision was corrected to about 20/50.  The central islands are
still there.  The doctor said a third surgery was possible.
If my understanding is correct 3% need a second surgery.  This means 3% of 3% or .09% need a third surgery.  What is central
islands and will a third surgery correct it?
Very concerned,
Dennis

As you know, not everyone winds up with 20/20 vision uncorrected and you may fall into this category.  However, I would recommend a second opinion before considering more surgery.  I am sure your doctor has done everything correctly, but, it may be more comforting to hear the same information from another surgeon.

I do understand that 20/20 is not quaranteed.  I guess I want to know what central islands are and if surgery can correct them?
Thanks,
Dennis
