It can take up to 6 months for the retina to recover as much as it will after retinal detachment surgery. Until then it is difficult to predict what the best potential vision is.
The difficulty adjusting to light can be related to medications especially if you were on a red top medicine (atropine). This can take 4 weeks to wear off.
You will need to have a refraction done to see what your best vision is with glasses. This can usually be done 6 - 8 weeks after surgery. Some of the distortion may improve.
