Today at work, I was walking over to our main office from the hangar, when I noticed this bright colored lights in my upper right field of vision in my right eye. It lasted for about an hour. Whenever I would move my eyes, the lights would follw, staying in the same spot in relation to my field of vision.
About an hour after, while sitting at my desk, the same thing occured in my left eye. The lights can be best described as lines of color, predominantly blue and white, almost moving like a neon sign. In my left eye it appeared in the lower left corner of my vision. This also lasted about an hour. It came back about a half an hour later, in the same location of my left eye.
I rarely have a headache, but on ocassion I have blurred vision.
I have had several back problems in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades. Could this be related? What could be causing this?  Thanks.    Mike

It sounds something like Occular migraines which can occur without pain. Just the same it's a good idea to have an opthamologist check it out. I having flashing lights in the bottom right hand corner of my field of vision in my left eye, as well as what I would describe as movement (like being underwater) in the same spot. The lights, for me, tend to occur at night like right when I lay down or first thing in the morning moments after standing up or bending over. Twice it happened driving. A doctor told me it was occular migraines. I went to another doctor just to be sure. Turns out I have lattice degeneration and two holes in my retina, one with a donut shaped sac of fluid around it. THis discovery led to a referral to a retinologist who says it doesn't need to be treated (which I'm not sure about since I've read syptomatic lattice degeneration is usually treated, but she's not going to treat me[does this sound right to people by the way??}...which is okay, I'm not crazy about surgeries of any type :) )Anyway, the point is, it's best to have someone examine you to know for sure. I know I'm supposed to watch for a sudden increase in symptoms and then go to the doctor again as that may signal a retinal tear. I don't know how high my risk is for that, but it's good to know what to look for. Plus an exam may put you at ease. Best wishes! (sorry this is so lenghty!)
