Recurring ptosis in left eye

For as long as I can remember, I would sometimes wake up with ptosis in my left eye that could last for weeks, then would suddenly go away. I am a 20 year old male with no history of chronic diseases. I am wondering if there is any easy explanation for this or if I should go see an ophthalmologist. Any advice is appreciated.

Photos to document what's going on are terribly important, and with smart phones, we can handle this to help our doctors with diagnosis.

This is distinctly abnormal and could be a sign of ocular myasthenia gravis. I would suggest you see a neuro-ophthalmologist. Take in several good full face photos showing your lid position going back to when you were a child. If you have a picture of the ptosis take that; if you don't and it reoccurs photograph is.

It doesn't have to be MG but it should be excluded as well as some other things that might cause that
