Recurring squiggly lines in vision

Recurring squiggly lines in vision

I can see a pinpoint of light in the vision of my (usually) left eye - similar to what you'd see when a flash picture is taken.  This pinpoint 'grows' and becomes a squiggly circle.  I can 'see' this whether my eyes are open or closed.  This continues to grow for several minutes then disappears.  There are no other symptoms (no headache, etc.)  This is a recurring issue (a few times a year).  What's going on??

Much discussed in the past. Use archives and search feature to read about "ophthalmic migraine" and TIA. It can be due to disease of eye, heart, brain, blood vessels or a special form of migraine without headache. See an ophthalmologist also have a PE with your family MD
