Red Eyes due to Contacts?

by ssm261, Aug 04, 2009 05:07PM
So this is how it started. One night I slept with my contacts in and I woke up in the morning and took them off immediately. As I can remember my eyes felt dry and they got very red. But I continued to wear contacts and my eyes would be fine and when I would take them off, they would get red. I went to an optometrist to see how serious the problem is, and he said it was just because my eyes couldn't take the contacts in for a certain period of time, but as soon I would put in my contact, the area around my iris and pupil? would get red. So there's this red outline. I did use some redness drops thinking it was allergies and what not but he told me to stop using those and prescribed new contacts and said I should be okay in three days. Well i wasn't and i went back for a follow up and he said it was because I wore eyeliner. I used to wear that before to and nothing happened. I left his office dissatisfied. after that, my got a little better and I started wearing contacts, but recently my eyes feel dry after I take out my contacts, and while I have my contacts in, they colored part gets outlines with red and sometimes there is smudged redness on the top part, sometimes on the sides and bottom of the colored part. I would use eyes drops for dry eyes and for contacts lens relief and my eyes would burn badly and sometimes it feels like there is something in the eyes where the smudged redness is, but nothing. So confused. help.

Honestly, you need to take a break from the contacts for a while and see an ophthalmologist for a second opinion before you run the risk of developing a severe, and possibly dangerous infection or scarring of the corneas.
